Krusty Gets Busted
The Simpsons Season 01, Episode 12
EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS
Krusty! I love how Krusty has trained them to say they'll kill themselves if he goes off the air. Sideshow Bob gets the cannon! This is like Sabado Gigante on Telemundo. "I didn't do it!" - becomes Bart's catch phrase in later episodes. Itchy & Scratchy episode is "Burning Love" and Scratchy gets a flaming arrow up his butt.
Patty and Selma and the first of their awful slide shows. Apu! "Yes, yes, I know the procedure for armed robbery, I do work in a convenience store you know!" Homer dives into the chips.
The pic of Selma taking a siesta always gave me nightmares. Bart's "Aye caramba" sadly appears here, but is at least contextual.
When Krusty is making a drink relaxing he picks of a old fashioned seltzer bottle and there's a dramatic pause - as if he's supposed to really have it explode in his face.
Those are some sad sad clowns in the lineup. Homer pegs Krusty as guilty. Kent Brockman? Nope. Damnit! Tease. Awesome that Krusty squeaks as they take him away. The clown is Gillty. OK, finally we get some Kent Brockman. Krusty began as a mime in Tupelo, MS. Krusty brand pork products look delicious. We also get introduced to Rev. Lovejoy who calls for a public burning of Krusty merch.
Oddly the court never uses Krusty's real name, Krustel Hersctofferson while prosecuting him. "Because these are children's toys, the fire will expand quickly". Poor Krusty can't read good.
This is definitely Kelsey Grammer's best role. I think this is the first episode Bart and Lisa collaborate to solve a mystery. Apu threatens to blow their heads off if they don't put down the magazine they are browsing.
Note to self. see if Kelsey Grammer has done any readings of books. And buy them. Sideshow Bob's Cavalcade of Whimsy?
Big shoes to fill, Big shoes to fill, Big shoes to fill. Bart actually puts it together without Lisa's help. "He's got little feet like all goodhearted people!"
CONCLUSION
Great introduction to the best villain in The Simpsons, except maybe Groundskeeper Willy as Freddy Krueger.

PLOT SUMMARY FROM WIKIPEDIA
Homer stops by the Kwik-E-Mart on the way home from work and witnesses a robbery committed by a masked clown, resembling Krusty. He positively identifies the clown as Krusty to the police, and Krusty is arrested, convicted and sentenced to jail. With Krusty now in jail, Krusty's sidekick Sideshow Bob becomes the new host of The Krusty the Clown Show, which he renames Sideshow Bob's Cavalcade of Whimsy. Bob promises the viewers that the show will still retain the popular Itchy & Scratchy Show series, but will also become a more educational program. Devastated and feeling that his hero could not have committed the crime, Bart enlists the help of Lisa and they set out to prove Krusty's innocence.
Bart and Lisa return to the scene of the crime to search for clues. They reason that Krusty could not have used the microwave as depicted by the hidden camera footage from the store because he wears a pacemaker, and that Krusty would not have been reading at the magazine rack, because he is illiterate. They conclude that Krusty was framed. The next day Bart, Lisa, and Maggie meet Sideshow Bob at the studio to ask him for input. A suspicious Bob dismisses their investigations and gives them tickets to his show.
At the live broadcast, Bart realizes the final link to the mystery. Bob had the most to gain from Krusty's downfall. He has feet large enough to fill Krusty's clown shoes, unlike Krusty who has small feet like everyone else, and therefore he yelled when Homer stepped on his feet during the robbery. Bart contends that the real robber is Sideshow Bob to the audience, and demonstrates the fact by smashing the end of Bob's shoe with a croquet mallet, causing him to scream in pain. Exposed, Bob confesses that he framed Krusty out of frustration for being constantly on the receiving end of the clown's humiliating gags. He is taken off to jail, swearing revenge on Bart, and the charges are dropped against Krusty. Grateful to be free, Krusty thanks Bart for standing up for the truth and sticking to his convictions.
